The information shared by former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his upcoming memoir will be much talked about.
INTERESTING DETAILS ABOUT NETANYAHU'S VISIT
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will soon publish a memoir about his political life. In his memoir, which has begun to be published in sections by the British press, Johnson shared interesting details about Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's visit to the UK in 2017.
"BIBI STAYED FOR A WHILE, THEN A BUG WAS FOUND"
Johnson, who served as foreign secretary between 2016 and 2018, announced that Netanyahu used his personal bathroom at the British Foreign Office during the visit and that the security team later found a bug (listening device) there. Noting that Netanyahu, whom he addressed by his nickname "Bibi" during their meetings, asked permission to use the sink, Johnson described his personal bathroom at the Foreign Office as a secret annex that resembled the men's restrooms of luxury clubs in London. In his book "Unleashed," Johnson wrote, "Bibi stayed there for a while and this may or may not be a coincidence, but I was told that a listening device was found in the toilet during the regular bug sweep that was conducted afterwards."
DURING THE SAME PERIOD, ISRAEL ALSO PLACED A BUG IN THE WHITE HOUSE
When asked by the press for more details about the meeting with Netanyahu, Johnson responded by saying, "You can find everything you want to know in the relevant section of the book." There is no information on whether Israel was contacted or condemned after the incident. On the other hand, it is known that Israel was accused of placing a bug in the White House during the same period.
The book, in which Johnson, who served as prime minister between 2019 and 2022, published his memoirs, is expected to hit shelves in the UK on October 10.
