The news of Nadir's death, who passed away at the age of 82, was announced by his wife Nur Nadir. Nur Nadir announced the death of her husband to the public with a testament-like statement shared on her social media account.
He had been receiving treatment for a long time
Asil Nadir, known for his investments in the business world and his economic contributions to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, had been under treatment at Kolan Hospital in Nicosia due to health problems since February 4. However, despite all the interventions, he died in the evening today.
The testamentary statement shared by Nur Nadir and stated to have been written by Asil Nadir is as follows:
"My Dear Cypriot Brothers and Sisters,
As long as I had the strength and life within me, I strived to support and uplift you in your honorable struggle for a dignified life. My father, İrfan Nadir, was a devoted lover of Cyprus and served the Cypriots until his last breath. As his son, I took on this heartfelt cause and mission. I have sacrificed my life, efforts, and all my resources for the honorable struggle and cause of all Cypriots.
There have always been traitors among us. But despite everything, I never gave up. Please, do not give up either.
This homeland is ours, these lands are ours, and these institutions are ours. First, protect one another, and then uphold the projects I have left for you.
Even though they tried to prevent me from realizing them, I am confident and at peace that you will overcome all these challenges. I dedicated to you projects that will connect you to the world and ensure your dignified existence. It is my will that you bring these projects to life for the existence of Cyprus and the Cypriot people.
My Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As a Cypriot who was born and will die on these lands, my will to you is that, despite everything, you protect these lands.
Those who have been around me throughout my life but did not support my struggle for a dignified life, those who have eaten from my table but failed the test of humanity—let them not be present on my final journey.
Death is a truth. At the very least, let them pause this theater.
I have entrusted my devoted wife, Nur Nadir, and my two children, Lisa Nur Nadir and Mertselim Asil Nadir, to your kind hearts. I have left my testament regarding the upcoming Presidential election to my wife, Nur Nadir.
These lands are ours. Protect them in unity. Until we meet again in a more beautiful world with all the kind-hearted souls.
